PUSD to Host Information Night for Parents and Guardians of Incoming TK and Kindergarten Students on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) is pleased to announce that for the 2025-26 school year, students who turn 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025 will be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). This expansion will give more families the opportunity to provide their children with a strong educational foundation.
To support parents and guardians of incoming TK and Kindergarten students, PUSD will host a parent informational session on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Fairlands Elementary School Multipurpose Room (4151 W. Las Positas Blvd, Pleasanton). This session will offer valuable information about the TK and Kindergarten programs, health services, after school care, and the enrollment process. Families are encouraged to attend to learn how TK can enhance their child’s early education.
“Transitional Kindergarten allows children an extra year to become familiar with school, building future academic success,” said PUSD’s Director of Student Service Janet Gates. “Our TK classrooms are very play-based, but they also follow state standards and district curriculum. TK provides an excellent opportunity to connect children and families to their elementary school and to our district services.”
Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year will open on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at pleasantonusd.net/enroll. Parents interested in enrolling their children in TK for the upcoming school year are encouraged to attend the informational session and mark their calendars for the enrollment opening date.

Everyday is Important!
For Belonging
Your child is a key part of their learning community. This community is impacted every time a child is absent or late. Being together builds relationships and belonging, and being at school on time everyday allows these relationships to grow.
For Learning
From the first minute to the last, your child’s teacher has learning planned. When children are present each day, for the whole day, they benefit from these plans. They make the connections to material, they get all directions and information, and they learn.
For Funding Our District
School districts receive state funding based upon attendance. Each day a child is absent costs Pleasanton Unified School District approximately $70. We have 13,300 students. If each of them is absent only 1 day, that is $931,000 in lost revenue.
